Here's How to Get Your Seller's Permit and Other permits and Registrations You May Need:




First decide on a business structure New Mexico as a Sole Proprietor, LLC/Corp, or Partnership.

Sellers Permit or Resale License
If you want to buy any taxable merchandise such as jewelry or clothing at wholesale prices to make jewelry to re-sell, or to buy clothing and accessories to resell them, then you need state sellers permit or sales tax license also called a resale license.

This is because most states require jewelry vendors to collect tax on sales made within that state as opposed to out of state. The New Mexico (NM) state sales tax rate is currently 5.125%. Depending on local municipalities, the total tax rate can be as high as 8.9375%.

New Mexico has a gross receipts tax that is imposed on persons engaged in business in New Mexico.
