First decide on a business structure Resale as a Sole Proprietor, LLC/Corp, or Partnership.


Note that each structure requires a filing. E.g., selecting an LLC, requires at least an LLC certificate, an LLC operating agreement, a business license and a federal tax ID number.

Selling Resale stuff requires a sellers permit because you need to collect taxes when you sell them. Sales taxes that is. Of course, any business needs to be a sole owner, corporation or LLC. If you do not choose to become an LLC, you will need to register your business name especially if it is a name without your first and last name in it. First, select your Resale stuff business structure: Sole Proprietor, Partnership, LLC or Corporation. Then, a sellers permit is required if you sell merchandise wholesale or retail. If you are an employer, you will need a federal employer Number and a State Employer Number. Users of a trade name will need a fictitious business name filing. Finally, you have the option or incorporating or forming an Resale stuff LLC.

Even though you are a home business you still need all permits and tax ID numberss like any other businesss. Online business operated from home need to obtain a home occupation business permit and a fictitious business name if a DBA fictitious name is used to conduct businesss.   Some businesses located outside the city limits may not need a city business permit but a county one but all other requirements such as a seller's permit if selling merchandise apply. If you sell anything hazardous such as chemicals you will need a special location for the merchandise.   Sometimes the county will ask for an inspection if you manufacture or store anything hazardous.   Merchandise is stored at home business location so it it is an insignificant amount it is ok but a lot of merchandise may need a storage location for a home business permit to be issued: Extra room Make sure you do not have too many deliveries by truck to your home if this is a home business.

Yes, we will email and mail it to you shortly. However small, an operation for profit is a business and the IRS has determined that any small or big profit from wherever derived, is taxable and needs all licensing and tax registrations like any business. Applies to home and online business as well.

Do you need a resale/sellers permit with an LLC in the state of Pennsylvania, or only as a DBA? Hi, I am a Cosmetology Student at Savannah Tech. I am taking a class that requires me to gather information if we were to start our own business. I need to know the cost of obtaining a business license if I were to open a hair salon . Also and other licenses/permits/info with cost would be most helpful.

Yes, you need a resale/sellers permit with an LLC in the state of Pennsylvania. The LLC or DBA is part of your business tax structure.

An LLC certificate is needed for LLC structures and if sole proprietor, you need to file a DBA in order to register your business name.

So if your business name is "Clippety-Do-Dah" and you decide the sole proprietor business entity structure, you need to file a Doing Business As (DBA) certificate to register the Clippety-Do-Dah name.

For hair salon or any salon, you will need the seller's permit to buy the cosmetics and other hair products wholesale and sell them retail or use them on salon clients. Additionally, you will need to set up an organizational structure.

I.e., to form a business entity such as a sole propr. LLC, or corp. Finally, get an EIN and a business license and if hiring, a state EIN as well.
