Here's How to Get Your Seller's Permit and Other permits and Registrations You May Need. Seller's Permit, LLC, DBA, Licenses & Tax IDs Requirements:




First decide on a business structure Baked Goods as a Sole Proprietor, LLC/Corp, or Partnership.


Note that each structure requires a filing. E.g., selecting an LLC, requires at least an LLC certificate, an LLC operating agreement, a business license and a federal tax ID number.

All Baked Goods Businesses need a , Business tax registration also called an occupation business License

Selling/Leasing or if wanting to buy or sell Baked Goods merchandise, food, equipment requires a Seller's Permit.

All Baked Goods Businesses Using a DBA doing business as name need a DBA Fictitious Business Name

Hiring Baked Goods Workers Requires a Federal EIN and a State Tax Number EIN

After your clients taste your delicious creations, they are customers for life.
Of course, other requirement are not as fun, like getting licensing for a Bakery business.
As in any other business, including home, online and store business, for your Bakery, first, select your Bakery business structure:
Sole Proprietor, Partnership, LLC or Corporation. The above step is important business all documents will be filed under the type of business organizational structure.
After that, you will need to obtain a Bakery business permit. 99% of all businesses need that. For example, even Martha Stewart needs to get a business license for the cookies she sells retail.
This is a generalBakery business permit that all new businesses must obtain.
Note that in the majority of the cases you do not need to obtain a business permit that is specifically for your type of business. You only need a general business permit.
In addition, all businesses must be identified by a business tax ID called a federal tax ID number or Employer Identification Number (EIN). If you file as a sole proprietor, you can use your social security number instead of the federal ID.
Then, a sellers permit is required if you sell Bakery items and merchandise wholesale or retail.
The sellers permit is also called state ID, wholesale ID, resale ID, or re-seller license.
If you are an employer, you will need a federal employer Number and a State Employer Number.
If you do business as a name other than your full legal name, for example, you do business as "Best Bakery: cookies, cupcakes, cakes etc," you will need to file a doing business as (DBA) filing.
Finally, you have the option or incorporating or forming a BakeryLLC. Setting up as one of these corporate entities allows you not to file a DBA. Yes, we will email and mail it to you shortly. However small, an operation for profit is a business and the IRS has determined that any small or big profit from wherever derived, is taxable and needs all licensing and tax registrations like any business. Applies to home and online business as well.

Do you need a resale/sellers permit with an LLC in the state of Pennsylvania, or only as a DBA? Hi, I am a Cosmetology Student at Savannah Tech. I am taking a class that requires me to gather information if we were to start our own business. I need to know the cost of obtaining a business license if I were to open a hair salon . Also and other licenses/permits/info with cost would be most helpful.

Yes, you need a resale/sellers permit with an LLC in the state of Pennsylvania. The LLC or DBA is part of your business tax structure.

An LLC certificate is needed for LLC structures and if sole proprietor, you need to file a DBA in order to register your business name.

So if your business name is "Clippety-Do-Dah" and you decide the sole proprietor business entity structure, you need to file a Doing Business As (DBA) certificate to register the Clippety-Do-Dah name.

For hair salon or any salon, you will need the seller's permit to buy the cosmetics and other hair products wholesale and sell them retail or use them on salon clients. Additionally, you will need to set up an organizational structure.

I.e., to form a business entity such as a sole propr. LLC, or corp. Finally, get an EIN and a business license and if hiring, a state EIN as well.

Does she have to apply for the license in person or can I do it for her? , My name is Heidi Fedie and my salon is Heidi's Hair Care Salon.
