Hello! I am trying to get my licenses to purchase furniture, etc. for re-sale to clients.


A: You have to first select from  sole owner/proprietor, partnership, LLC or corporation. Using a company name subjects you to having to file a DBA .. Also, note that whatever purchase furniture, etc. item that you sell or lease and it is an item that can be touched (i.e., tangible such as furniture, etc.equipment, jewelry, merchandise, electronics, prepared food) requires a sales ID ( Sellers Permit ) to either buy or sell the items or products wholesale from companies that sell in bulk and or sell them retail directly to consumers. Finally, even sole proprietor working from home or just online can set up a LLC or incorporate, in which case, they will not need to register the trade name with a dba because the LLC or Corporation name will be the legal name of the business.


Here's How to Get Your Seller's Permit and Other permits and Registrations You May Need. Seller's Permit, LLC, DBA, Licenses & Tax IDs Requirements:




First decide on a business structure Home Staging as a Sole Proprietor, LLC/Corp, or Partnership.


Note that each structure requires a filing. E.g., selecting an LLC, requires at least an LLC certificate, an LLC operating agreement, a business license and a federal tax ID number.

All Home Staging Businesses need a , Business tax registration also called an occupation business License

Selling/Leasing or if wanting to buy or sell Home Staging merchandise, food, equipment requires a Seller's Permit.

All Home Staging Businesses Using a DBA doing business as name need a DBA Fictitious Business Name

However, you will still need other registrations, such as licenses, an assumed business name DBA, and tax IDs as described above. Finally, even one person, Home Staging sole owner/proprietors working from home or just online can form a LLC or incorporate, in which case, they will not need to file a DBA.

  Online business operated from home need to obtain a home occupation business permit and a fictitious business name if a DBA fictitious name is used to conduct businesss.     If you sell anything hazardous such as chemicals you will need a special location for the merchandise.   Sometimes the county will ask for an inspection if you manufacture or store anything hazardous.   Merchandise is stored at home business location so it it is an insignificant amount it is ok but a lot of merchandise may need a storage location for a home business permit to be issued: Garage Make sure you do not have too many deliveries by truck to your home if this is a home business. Maybe one to two times a week.

If I wanted to buy from a retail wholesale company and sell on ebay or amazon what are the steps I have to complete to do so? How Do I renew my EIN Number that expired on Dec. 2017 I sell on Amazon and ebay and my EIN said it expired If my county does not require a business license, will I still need one for the state of ga? I am planning to sell clothing items out of my home online.
