  Online business operated from home need to obtain a home occupation business permit and a fictitious business name if a DBA fictitious name is used to conduct businesss.     If you sell anything hazardous such as chemicals you will need a special location for the merchandise.   Sometimes the county will ask for an inspection if you manufacture or store anything hazardous.   If you store a small amount of merchandise in your apartment it should be ok.   Make sure you do not have too many deliveries by truck to your home if this is a home business.

You need a seller's permit, an occupational business license, and an assumed business name registration. If you are an employer, i.e., if you hire workers, you also need a state employer tax id and an IRS employer ID as well.

Main thing I want to do first off is to get all my suppliers in order and for drawing on my business plan getting all my start up costs down on paper I am in Alabama and I am anticipating doing floral work for weddings and events.

Some supplies are easier and cheaper to buy wholesale. That being said some wholesalers want a resale id. Can I just get a resale id without getting a business license? I am opening a candy store in santa cruz california.

Wedding planning requires a seller's permit to buy the materials for decoration wholesale. You also need an EIN because you are an independent contractor business and a DBA, LLC or corporation because all other licenses will be registered under your legal entity selection.

You will need to obtain a GA seller's permit and produce a resale certificate ( part of the GA seller's permit," to the CA wholesaler in order to buy wholesale.
When you sell retail in GA, you will need to charge sales tax, collect it and pay the Georgia Government.
Note that in addition, you will need to pay local sales taxes to over 400 taxing jurisdictions in the state depending on your location in one of these jurisdiction.
However, you just need to obtain the seller's  permit on this site and then you will pay about 1% to your specific jurisdiction, like your county.
For example, in addition to the state sales tax, some transactions are subject to the 1% Atlanta municipal sales and use tax.
