Dear Sir/Madam, I want to know if there is a requirement for the issuance of the reseller's license and how much it is. Is it available to use in California? Thanks.
Dickson I am looking to start selling online through Amazon as a reseller I will be working from home. No store or building. Just sales directly through Amazon FBA.
Some have mentioned before that I do not necessarily need a business license to sell through Amazon, just a seller's permit Even if it is just a sole proprietorship? Do I still need a DBA if I obtain a business license?
I want to open an online clothing store. Very small, I know I need resellers to permit. I do not want to charge taxes, what else do I need? Okay, that’s why I want the seller’s permit to buy wholesale.
Will I have to deal with taxes? This will be run by me and only me, no other employees. In my city we are not required to have a business license unless we sell over $3,000 in one year. Can I start an LLC as my business and get resellers to permit?

Coco Chanel's Fashion Boutique
Coco Chanel wanted to open a clothing boutique but was perplexed by licensing. "This paperwork is more confusing than tweed in summer!" Suddenly Audrey Hepburn pedaled up on a bicycle. "Fear not darling, I can explain it plainly:
Form LLC for legal protections and tax benefits
File a chic DBA name like "Chanel Fashion House"
Obtain seller's permit, sales tax ID, business license
May require vendor permit for sales events
Get insured in case customers slip and fall
Follow regulations if selling secondhand clothes
Install proper fire systems and exits
Renew licenses and permits periodically
"Mind the details darling and your style will seduce customers," Audrey assured. "Merci beaucoup! Now it's as easy as draping a little black dress," smiled Coco. And with Audrey's wise advice, Coco's chic boutique took off like haute couture.
You can also obtain a federal tax ID as the sole proprietor and use it as a business tax ID in place of a social security number. However, you will still need other filings, such as permits, a clothing store fictitious business name DBA, and tax IDs as described above.
According to Florida Title XIV statute for sales tax, you will need a seller's permit AKA sales tax ID to sell merchandise for your Online Selling.
To buy merchandise such as clothes, hats, bags and accessories wholesale, you need a sales tax ID also called a seller's permit.
The requirement comes from
Florida state legislation taxation and finance statute 212.08
that requires you to get a seller's permit.
So, if you sell a Clothing Store item at $40, you will need to charge $4.25 because you will need to charge and collect sales tax.
You can get the business name registration here. We will make sure that your business name is available, and it does not already exist because of your fictitious business name "Unique Cre8tions". That said, you don't have to get a fictitious business name certificate if you decide to form an LLC or incorporate. Hiring requires both a state and a federal tax withholding ID to pay employment taxes.
In addition to obtaining the necessary licenses and permits, you should also research and find wholesale suppliers for your clothing, accessories, and beauty supplies.
Look for reputable suppliers who offer competitive prices and good quality merchandise. You can also consider attending trade shows and networking events to connect with potential suppliers and other industry professionals.
It's important to create a business plan and budget to ensure you have a clear understanding of your expenses, potential revenue, and profit margins. This can help you make informed decisions and set realistic goals for your business.
When it comes to selling online, you will also need to set up an e-commerce website, create product listings, and handle shipping and logistics. You may also need to consider marketing and advertising strategies to attract customers to your online store.
Overall,
starting a clothing store
business can be challenging, but with the right preparation and resources, it can be a rewarding and profitable venture. Good luck with your business!

Hey there, fashionista! So, you're thinking of opening your very own clothing store? That's amazing! But before you start picking out the latest trends, let's talk about the permits you'll need to make your boutique dreams a reality.
Now, the permits you'll need may vary depending on where you're planning to set up shop. But don't worry, I've got you covered with some general permits that are commonly required for a clothing store and accessories business.
First up, we have the DBA, LLC, or corporation. These fancy acronyms stand for "Doing Business As," "Limited Liability Company," and "Corporation." It's like giving your boutique an official name and legal status.
Next, we have the business license, which is basically a pass that says, "Hey, I'm a legit business owner!" It's a must-have for any enthusiastic entrepreneur like yourself.
Now, let's talk about the resale permit. This little gem allows you to shop till you drop at wholesale markets and snag those fabulous pieces for your store. It's like having a VIP pass to all the fashion goodies! If you're selling your trendy threads within your state, you'll likely need to obtain this permit. It's like saying, "Hey, taxman, I'm ready to keep things legal and pay my dues!"
Last but not least, if you're planning to hire some fashion-forward employees, you might need a federal EIN (Employer Identification Number) and a State EIN. These numbers make sure that the tax man knows who's the boss in your boutique empire.

Hercules Takes on the Fashion Industry with Achilles as His Mentor
1. Select Ownership Type: LLC or Sole Proprietorship?
So, Hercules is all pumped up to start his clothing store business. But wait, he needs to figure out the legal stuff first. It's like navigating through a labyrinth with a hangover, but fear not! Achilles, the wise and friendly mentor, is here to save the day! Now, when it comes to ownership types, Hercules has two choices: LLC or sole proprietorship. Let me break it down for you, Herc.
LLC: Lifting Legitimate Clothing
Picture this, Hercules: You start an LLC, which stands for "Lifting Legitimate Clothing." It's like slaying a hydra with a legal shield. An LLC is treated as an "S" corp, which is pretty darn awesome. Why, you ask?
Well, my friend, an LLC offers protection. It shields your personal assets from the liabilities of the business. It's like wearing an impenetrable armor while fighting those fashion battles. Plus, an LLC allows for flexible management and avoids double taxation. It's a win-win situation, just like wrestling a lion and making it tap out!
And here's an added bonus: When you go for an LLC or a corporation, you can bid farewell to the dreaded DBA requirement. DBA? That's "Doing Business As." You know, like using a pseudonym in the fashion world. But trust me, Herc, you don't need that. Your name alone will make those fabrics tremble with fear!
Funny biz names for DBA? How about "Hercules' Hideaway" or "Threads of Glory"? But remember, no DBA means less paperwork and hassle. More time for designing those killer togas!
2. Business License: Unleash Your Fashion Powers!
Now, Hercules, listen closely. You'll need a business license to strut your stuff legally in the fashion industry. It's like having the key to the exclusive club of entrepreneurship. With a business license, you can legally operate your clothing store and be the boss of your own fashion empire.
But why, you may ask? Well, my friend, it's all about staying on the right side of the law and keeping those jealous fashion gods at bay. A business license ensures that you comply with local regulations, pay your taxes, and have the legal authority to sell those trendy tunics.
Think of it as getting an official seal of approval, like Zeus himself giving you a thunderous nod of consent. It also gives you credibility in the eyes of your customers, who will feel more confident buying their fabulous garments from a licensed fashion deity like yourself!
3. Federal EIN and State EIN: Unmasking Your Business Identity
Hercules, my friend, let's talk about EINs. No, not the kind you see on Hercules' muscles. We're talking about Federal EIN (Employer Identification Number) and State EIN, which stands for "Entrepreneur's Identity Number." Okay, I might have made that one up, but it sounds cool, right?
The Federal EIN is like the fashion world's version of a social security number. It's what you need to identify your business for tax purposes. It's like a barcode, Hercules, helping the government track your glorious sales and ensure you're paying your fair share of ambrosia-fueled taxes.
The State EIN, on the other hand, is specific to your state. It's like having a VIP pass to the fashion capital of your region. With the State EIN, you can keep things organized.

First things first, do your research. No, I'm not talking about stalking your favorite fashion bloggers on Instagram (although that's always fun), I mean understanding the market and the demand for boutique and accessories businesses in your area. This way, you'll know if your fabulous fashion ideas will make you a hit or if you might need to tweak your game plan.
Next, let's talk budget. Deciding how much money you want to invest in your business is crucial. You don't want to be swimming in debt right off the bat, darling. So, set a budget that will allow you to make a splash in the fashion world without drowning in expenses.
Now, onto the location! Picture this: a bustling street with gorgeous storefronts, where potential customers can't resist but stop and stare at your fabulous displays. Find a location that is visible and accessible, my dear. After all, you want people to walk in and say, "Oh, this place is simply fabulous! I must go in and see what treasures await!"
Of course, no clothing store is complete without a stunning inventory. So, my dear entrepreneur, it's time to source your inventory. Find suppliers who can provide you with high-quality merchandise at competitive prices. You want your customers to walk out feeling like they've found hidden gems without breaking the bank.
Last but not least, let's spread the word about your fabulous fashion empire! Market your business like a pro through online and print advertising, and don't forget the good old-fashioned word-of-mouth. Trust me, when it comes to fashion, gossip travels faster than a runaway model on a catwalk.
